VE Anniversary Celebrations in Primary 5 🎉

The Primary 5 boys and girls had great fun celebrating the 80th Anniversary of VE Day!  They dressed in costume, decorated buns and found out all about VE Day in 1945. Some boys and girls even formed a class band and everyone enjoyed being entertained by their music. We also enjoyed a super drum major display by Hannah and Eliza.  Well done everyone!

We had a fantastic day celebrating 80 years from the start of VE Day. Pupils were greeted to music played from the era on vinyl followed by an Assembly about VE Day led by Principal, Mr. Hutchinson. Fantastic effort from the whole class celebrating VE Day. The children took part in some outdoor activities from the time period and had a go at cracking some ciphers. They enjoyed learning about the impact on children during the war and how VE Day was celebrated and they decorated and enjoyed a delicious bun

As part of their Wild Weather topic, Primary 5 have enjoyed looking at the wonderful Volcano painting by UK artist, Nick Rowland. They then had the opportunity to recreate their very own volcano masterpieces using a range of mediums and techniques. The results were amazing! Well done everyone!

Primary 5 enjoyed writing reports about storm Eowyn! They learnt about the importance of an eye catching and informative headline and enjoyed coming up with their own! They then worked hard to write the rest of their reports and even included direct quotes. Finally, everyone enjoyed publishing their work using Microsoft Word.  Well done everyone!

The Primary 5 boys and girls thoroughly enjoyed a visit from the Livestock and Meat Commission today! P7 had a taste Of the future as they tried home economics, making delicious pizzas while thinking about the eat well guide. They also reflected on their time at primary school and considered their feelings/emotions about the future and moving on. Strong foundations were needed in this building activity and these were discussed and applied to their own lives while thinking about who are the people...

The children have been using thermometers around school to record the temperatures at regular intervals. They then created their own line graphs to present this information and we discussed anomalies and reasons for these. Great work!

Primary 5 had a fantastic day out to the FE McWilliam Gallery today!  They started their morning with a clay workshop, led by artist Debbie.  Everyone created their own individual character using a variety of materials and techniques.
