Commencement of Remote Learning 6/1/21

5th Jan 2021

Dear Parent/Carer

The start of this term has brought some additional pressures but I am confident that through continued partnership we will meet these challenges and provide quality teaching, learning and pastoral support for your child.

Learning packs were issued today and all collected - thank you.  Teaching and learning will commence from tomorrow. Use work in packs provided and Seesaw online platform to keep in touch daily. You will know how to access this, but if there are issues with passwords then contact school using the "contact us" facility on the school website.

We will be producing a 2 weekly learning pack for each child. This should be collected from front of school (as today) on Friday 8th January between 2pm and 3pm.

I encourage you to support your child in establishing good routines during the period of remote learning. Whilst we agree that remote learning is no substitute for face-to-face teaching, it is possible, together, to make it the best it can be.

If you have concerns or difficulties at any stage please do contact your child's teacher through Seesaw to share these with us, so we have opportunity to progress them.

Arrangements for the supervision of Key Worker or vulnerable children this week have been communicated separately, by email. Let us know immediately if a child will not be attending.  Please note that these pupils will be required to wear jogging bottoms, school t-shirt and sweater, trainers, coat, hat and gloves. They also need to bring a packed lunch, non-fizzy drink and healthy break-time snack. They must also bring their own stocked pencilcase, sanitiser, antibacterial wipes and a colouring/puzzle book and book/magazine to read as well as their learning pack.

Thank you for the many encouraging comments of support which we have received as we prepare for the period ahead. These are valued greatly by our staff.

I expect that, pending announcements from the Stormont Executive and the Department of Education/Education Authority there will be further revisions to our planning. We will endeavour to keep you updated.

In the meantime I wish you, your family and our pupils continued good health and safety.

Yours sincerely

D. Hutchinson  Principal.
