Henri Rousseau inspired artwork by Primary 6 π―
1st Apr 2026
As part of their Rainforests topic, Primary 6 have been looking at the work of French artist Henri Rousseau.
Rousseau painted around twenty rainforest themed paintings, despite never leaving France! He explained that he often visited the Botanical Gardens in Paris and used these for inspiration.
After close inspection, we discovered that Rousseau used a wide variety of shades of green, brown, yellow and orange to create his works.
Everyone enjoyed having a go at recreating one of his works. They began by sketching their tigers and coloured these using oil pastels. They then used chalk pastels to create their foliage and even added 3D grass.
We hope you enjoy them! πΏπ―πΏ
