Reach Mentoring and the Livestock and Meat Commission Visit!
We were thrilled to have Zac and Sarah from Reach Mentoring in school today. Reach Mentoring is a service for young people which began in Lurgan in 2014 and is now reaching over 900 young people weekly in 53 schools. Reach Mentoring is rooted in Christian values and all their volunteers are deeply committed to supporting young people in their journey through this stage of their life. The volunteers visit Markethill High School, Royal School Armagh and Clounagh Junior High, so it was a great opportunity for our P7 pupils to get to know about this service before making the transition to high school in September.
Primary 1-2 enjoyed listening to Ruby's Story which focused on the worries that we can have and how it is important to share these. They also enjoyed a fun bubble game which helped them understand the message.
Primary 3-7 enjoyed listening to the story of Bruce the Goose which looked the importance of having courage and believing in yourself. The children also enjoyed a fun game which reminded them of the importance of encouraging and building each other up.
Primary 5 & 7 also enjoyed a wonderful cookery demonstration delivered by Grace from the Livestock and Meat Commission. Pupils enjoyed assisting Grace in making a very tasty Balsamic Beef and Tomato Ragu. They also enjoyed hearing about the nutritional benefits of Farm Quality Assured beef and lamb. Each child received their very own cookbook which contains lots of lovely recipes to try out!
