Scotland Residential - Day 2

30th May 2025

Today started off very damp as we travelled to Blair Drummond Safari Park fuelled by a good nights sleep and great breakfast.  We started with a bus tour around the animals, particularly enjoying the rhinos, lions and ‘cheeky’ monkeys who climbed all over out coach to the shock and amusement of everyone onboard πŸ™ˆ.  Next we visited the souvenir shops earlier than anticipated to shelter from the heavy rain and thoroughly enjoyed the sea lion 🌊 trainers showing a large audience what the mammals could do…wow, they were amazing!

After sheltering and enjoying lunch, we were delighted to feel sunshine breaking through the grey clouds and creating a beautiful afternoon. We were able to enjoy dodgems and even the staff managed to bravely board the swing carousel (no pressure). We ventured on towards the animal shelters, swan pedal boats around the lake and captured the resort on a steam train journey. Everybody met together for one of the highlights - the birds of prey by the lake. We saw a demonstration of a flying vulture and red kites flying just above our heads and catching prey in the sky.  We learned so much about these birds.

Finally, after a tasty dinner at Carronvale House, we headed nearby to the bowling alley and enjoyed a great evening of laughter and healthy competition within our teams.  Special mention to staff member Laura and pupil, Benjamin who topped the scoreboards.  Prizes to be given out tomorrow πŸ˜ŠπŸ‘ŒπŸ€©πŸ‘

Cases packed, supper enjoyed and lights out on day 2. Edinburgh castle tomorrow 🏰
